After 24 games to open the 2010 season and the defense of their AL West title, the Los Angeles Angels were right where they started.
At .500 in the standings.
Los Angeles went 12-12 in the opening month of the season, riding the strong play of two veterans. Jered Weaver went 3-0 with a 2.53 ERA in five starts, and Kendry Morales hit .315 with six home runs and 16 RBIs.
But it wasn’t easy getting to .500 after the Angels dropped seven of their first 10, falling to 3-7 on the season after a loss to New York on April 15. That tough start included a four-game losing streak after an opening-day victory over Minnesota.
The Angels found their stride in the middle of the month. After the 3-7 start, the Angels swept a three-game series at Toronto and won twice at home against Detroit for a five-game winning streak.
Los Angeles started May with a loss to the Tigers, falling 3-2.
